Bleak and gripping thriller

Gone Girl - Gillian Flynn

A surprisingly slow and rather dull beginning gives way to a twisted and bitter portrait of a hugely difficult marriage. The first 200 pages need a thorough edit and cut, but then it really takes off. I loved the sheer nastiness of both characters, though I preferred Nick. I have to say it's really nice to have horrid people as main characters. Such a pleasant change.
